A passion for sport
by Paid for page

There is no doubt that sport is one of the world's favourite past times. South Africa is no different. We are a great sporting country and the most popular sports that come to mind are: soccer, cricket and rugby. And as this sector grows, so does the demand for sporting professionals. Boston City Campus and Business College is giving learners in South Africa the opportunity to explore this field with their sports management diplomas.

Boston City Campus and Business College’s diplomas in sport cater for those enthusiastic, sports-mad students who want to enter into the vibrant, evolving and rapidly developing industry. Boston introduced the popular sports management and administration diploma in 1993. The South African Sports commission endorses the diploma and is also an official training body for the United Cricket Board of South Africa.

The one-year diploma offers a broad spectrum of topics related to the sporting industry and thus equipping students with the fundamentals of sports management and administration.

The diploma dives deep into the commercial world of sport in order to be eligible for positions at sports clubs, sports clinics, sports associations and councils. It is an ideal entry-level course into the sports management industry, which is one of the largest growing industries in South Africa and internationally. The career opportunities available to qualified students include: positions in sports marketing, sports development, personal fitness training, sports administration, sports coaching and sports entertainment and hospitality.

Mandla Mazibuko graduated with this diploma and is today the president of South African School's Football. “The Boston Sports Diploma has proved invaluable for the work I do now.“

Mpho Moholo, a 19-year-old student, finds the course interesting and she is excited to be one of the few females doing the course. "I enjoy the practical lessons because I learn more and it is easier to understand when you are getting hands-on experience. Hopefully this diploma will boost my career in the sports media industry. I want to be a sports presenter or journalist."

Thato Moyo (19) says, "At first I thought it was just an ordinary theoretical course but still I found it interesting. I am really enjoying it now. Especially since the course contains business and management subjects as well. This is perfect for my future career. I plan to open my own football academy."
