Technology has made a difference in the way PK Vending does business. CEO Graeme Keshwar says, “If we were still doing what we did five years ago, we would be out of business. It is vitally important to evolve with the times.
The first to implement fresh food vending, PK are on the cutting edge of the vending industry in South Africa.”
In their quest to be constantly pertinent to the market, PK Vending is now releasing their internet vending option – Easynet Café. “This is new and exciting but it remains vending. We are no longer limited to vending products only, we also can vend a service. Thinking laterally, this is exactly what cellphone companies are doing – vending time. The Easynet Café machines allow users to surf the web, download e-mails, work on documents and there is even an option to use VOIP-SKYPE.
In the vending industry it pays to keep your ear to the ground. PK Vending’s success is dependent on their customers’ success. This means that one of their key jobs is to find good locations for clients. “We have site finders who perform in-depth studies on all our sites. Surveys are done to find out the type of machines and product mix best suited to these locations. We are then able to direct our operators to what they should stock in certain areas in order to give them the best return possible.”
